Welcome to the latest update on The Bakersfield Sound of Christmas multi-artist/multi-band recording project for the homeless.  An update featuring multi-talented Mark McKinney, and stellar musicians and producers, Mark Yeary (between his gigs with Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson), and Brian Benson are in the works.

I tried to tell the story with a narrative and my computer crashed it all, and I came to the conclusion it was fate.  Fate brought my dream of reuniting with Alyssa Kaess, in the studio, to my doorstep, or rather, to the doorstep of Starbucks on Rosedale Highway near Calloway in Bakersfield, California on this date, as the podcast will reveal.  Alyssa, I've never seen you there before and I've been going there almost every morning for years.  How could it be that on the morning of the very day of this session, I just happened to run into you there?

Later that morning, through a "fluke" phone call, fate brought me to Trout's for an unexpected filming of Oildale Santa for Rockwell's Opry, scheduled to debut this coming Saturday from 5-7 pm on Brighthouse Channel 20.

And fate turned a noon recording session into a magical confluence of intense talent.  If you happened to have skipped the link, go back up this blog thread and listen to the way this group of exceptionally gifted artists summarized the encounter, involving the multi-artist/multi-band recording of the original new song, It Never Snows on the Streets of Bakersfield.
