Hi, my name is Dr. BLT, but you can call me Dr BLT.  LOL.  Actually, Bruce is fine too.  I write the songs and run the site.  Slowing, but surely we are inching our way to the early stages of the Bakersfield Sound of Christmas recording project.  This may not only turn out to be a multi-artist/multi-band project, but also a multi-year project, in which, every year, we feature additional artists, bands and new Christmas songs.  Here's an old recording of the original Dr BLT medley, also produced by Mark Yeary, but only available on cassette so a little compromised in terms of sound quality.  If you are on board with the project in whatever capacity, feel free to use this to practice with:

How far we'll get this year, a collection of mp3 downloads, an EP, or CD, is anybody's guess.  But we're determined to bring artists together and get some professionally recorded tunes out there to raise awareness of and money for the Bakersfield Homeless shelter this Christmas.  Brian Benson is working diligently on The Gift that Keeps on Giving and Billy Wants a Job for Christmas, Ghost of Epixx and the talented John Q, also of Epixx are working on Black Santa, and Mark Yeary, formerly of Merle Haggard and the Strangers, in addition to working with Merle Haggard, is graciously devoting his time as a producer to the centerpiece of the project, a medley that we plan to record at American Sound Recording studio.  Rick Reno who manages ASR is offering his full support to the project.  The multi-talented Mark McKinney and one of Kern Counties rising country blues artists,

Hank Ray have been rehearsing/recording/preparing to record with me as well.  The deft Jerry Rothberg, of Blue Mirror is practicing his sax.  Others on board with the project are Jim, lead singer of Soulajar, Dave Wulfekuler, drummer for The Buckaroos (formerly Buck Owens and the Buckaroos); Dave Howe, Meestro (if I remember correctly), Rockwell (who has been dueting with me on some future classic hits), Jeffrey Michaels (who just released a fantastic new CD); Fatt Katt and the Vonzippers, Pat Frase, The Councilmen, Boasting Weak, possibly Kim McAbee, Alyssa Kaess, who is extremely gifted as a singer/songwriter, Brian Benson, Walter Stormont, Tommy Isbell, possibly Kim McAbee, also of the Buckaroos and a few others I am embarrassingly leaving out (forgive me).

Nick Mihalopoulos of the band Shilo (pictured here), the affable young man with the long last name and a ton of talent, a guitarist/singer/songwriter in his own right, is one of the latest local artist to offer his talents towards this project.  And, also pictured above is Tyrone Bernal who is the drummer for Silence O Israel.  He is also one of the newcomers to the project.  So today, or as soon as you can get to it in the comments section, let's visit his myspace page and give each of these local dawgs a warm welcome in the comments section here at BSU!
