From country blues to "hick" hop: Preparing sounds for the Bakersfield Sound of Christmas

Here are some Bakersfield sights to update you on the Bakersfield Sound of Christmas.  On Tuesday, Mark Yeary, former Stranger, who's producing the mega multi-artist medley for the project and I got together with Rick Reno and American Sound Recording studio to make plans for the project.

On Thursday, Bakersfield Sound-grounded country blues artist, Hank Ray joined me on the party at Zingo's Cafe on Buck Owens Blvd. for a 12 pm HooteNOONie (that's what I call these mid-day jam sessions).  We practiced 3 brand new Dr BLT Christmas songs for recording: Let's Make Christmas Dreams Come True; No Room at the Inn and All Because it's Christmas.  It's been a long time since Hank and I got together, and it was just like old times.

Then, on Friday, November 20, it was over to Ghost's (of Epixx) home studio to record a new version of an old Dr BLT Christmas track that actually charted at #21 in 2005 at mp3000.com, a site that once tracked internet downloads.  The song is called Black Santa.  John Q, also of Expixx, wielded great skill at the controls and helped us lay down some killer vocal tracks.

Keep your ears to the ground, and keep listening for the Bakersfield Sound of Christmas!
