Come Monday: Bakersfield Sound Labor Day weekend wrap-up

It was the weekend that modern-era radio's answer to Cousin Herb's Trading Post received kudos from a highly respected newspaper writer.

It was the weekend I began gathering local artists for the recording of a benefit CD single, Bakersfield's belated answer to Bandaid's Do They Know it's Christmas, and university students combined their cognitive resources to come up with answers to the problem of homelessness (see prior blog below).

It's the weekend, and today is the day, a brand new Dr BLTune was released, a song called She's the Girl.

Sample it here:

drums: Dr BLT and Jason

It was the weekend I co-wrote a song with my nephew, called Rockin' Band (still in the works); and the weekend memorialized in Jimmy Buffet's Come Monday, the only song I know that specifically mentions the Labor Day week-end.

I hope yours will be remembered as a grand one.  Celebrate the fruits of your labor!

Congratulations on another step towards the recognition that you rightfully deserve. Just as with our Bakersfield Sound Forefathers, hard work, dedication, extreme talent, no fear of failure, and a love of music, we move onward and upward. Way to go Dr. BLT!
