Buckanuck: The music on Bakersfield and Beyond took me back to Saskatchewan

For those who are new to the series, a Buckanuck is a Buck Owens fan from Canada (Buck + Canuck= Buckanuck).  Now that we have that out of the way, let's move on to our topic of the day------the longing to return to one's place of origin.

I'm sure that every once in awhile Buck Owens wanted to head back to Oklahoma and to Texas, the states that represented his childhood, his roots, and his family ties.  Every once in awhile a Buckanuck misses his homeland of Canada, and the provinces that represent his childhood, his roots, and his family ties.

Lately I've had the longing to return to Canada---more specifically, to Saskatchewan, and, to add even more specificity---to Saskatoon.  That is the longing expressed in the song posted here to day---a longing that may be fulfilled shortly if I make good on my plans to visit my homeland.

Back to Saskatchewan

I wanna go back to Saskatchewan
Back to the place where I was raised
I wanna go back to the fallin’ snow
Back to the thrill of childhood days

Chorus:
In Saskatchewan
There ain’t much goin’ on
But that’s where my heart will feel at home
In Saskatchewan
I’ll sing my prairie songs
And I won’t feel so all alone

I wanna go
Back to Saskatoon
That’s my home town
I dream of days back in Saskatchewan
Every single time I’m feelin’ down
(chorus)

That’s where I’ll go
To fallin’ snow
And harvest days of golden grain
That’s where I’ll be
Born to be free
Come back to Saskatchewan with me
(instrumental solo; return to chorus)

Just a few quotes I liked on going home...hope you get there soon!

You can never go home again, but the truth is you can never leave home, so it's all right. ~Maya Angelou

Home is not where you live but where they understand you. ~Christian Morgenstern

Home is a place not only of strong affections, but of entire unreserve; it is life's undress rehearsal, its backroom, its dressing room. ~Harriet Beecher Stowe

Peace - that was the other name for home. ~Kathleen Norris

    Where we love is home,
Home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.
~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., Homesick in Heaven

Home is a name, a word, it is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke, or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration. ~Charles Dickens

when we move from the town of origin where are all our memories of when we were a child, we always will miss it and we want to go back. This song is really that affects a lot of people. Been away from home is hard. Also, home is who gives us our identity of who we are. No matter how far we are always going to have the love for our town in our heart.
