Rising stars from the folk side of the nu bako sound: Alyssa Kaess: Folks call her "the next Joni Mitchell"

She's adored by fans 25 and under, and admired by older fans of Joni Mitchell, who often refer to her as "the next Joni Mitchell."  Joni Mitchell was introduced to country and folk music stars in the 60s on the Johnny Cash show.  She was born and raised in my home town of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Is Alyssa Kaess the next Joni Mitchell?  You decided.  But I will tell you this: Twenty-something singer/songwriter, Alyssa Kaess has an exceedingly bright future ahead of her, and that's why she's been selected as a "rising star from the folk side of the nu bako sound."

If you want to sample her cover of the Dr. BLTune, Color of your Dreams, this is the place to do it.  Right here!  Right now!  Keep your eyes on Alyssa Kaess and keep your e

Color of your Dreams
Words and music by Dr BLT copyright 2009

Have you ever had a dream
Comin’ apart at the seams?
Have you ever lost your way
‘couldn’t tell the night from the day

Chorus:
When you’re sleepin’
You can tell the yellow from the green
But when you awake
You can’t find the color of your dreams

Have you ever lost the words
The words to your favorite song
Sad that you don’t belong
Longin’ to find them
So you can sing along
(chorus)

Your dreams are all flavored
With blackberry wine
Lost in a leisurely moment of time
Wake up in the mornin’
But you can’t seem to find
The colors that flow through the back of your mind
It was only a dream

Dr. BLT Saves The Musical Beauty from the Oblivion Beast.
It's been a few years since I witnessed the magic of Alyssa Kaess and the brilliant guitar work of Dr. BLT at the recording session for this song. I knew that I was witnessing a very special moment at Reggie's Bakersfield studio. Years passed and Alyssa finished college, but only a fortunate few got to hear this, and the other songs she recorded that day. Now, the music is being heard. Dr. BLT is a great writer and Wendy picked up the songs and ran with them, scoring a TD on each one. They are all destined to become classics somewhere in time. Thanks to Dr. BLT, this may happen sooner than later.

I like this song, when you have a dream not matter how many obstacles are in your way you have to try to jump these obstacles to accomplish your dream. If you look, you would find always a way, people, and resources which they can help you.

I really liked the meaning behind this song. It makes me think about how when you have a dream sometimes all the stuff around you clouds it and makes you feel like its lost or impossible.
