This is a test, only a test!  If this had been an actual emergency, we would have told you.  No, instead of an actual emergency, what you are witnessing is a whole new way of learning, in which at attempt is made to seamlessly integrate course material, music, and drama into a multi-arts audio production that other students can listen to as an entertaining way of getting into the material.

The pictures you are seeing are members of the creative cast of This is a Test! Only a Test!  They consist of students from my Assessment Techniques course at National University in Bakersfield, California, myself, and my own creative team, involving Walter Stormont, who stars as my voice-over sidekick, Pat Prase, who plays the drums, Reggie Langendorfer, who engineers the project from the beautiful studio known as Bakersfield Sound and Recording Studio on 26th and O, right off Golden State Highway, and myself, who wrote the songs, This is a Test..., Predictability and I Wanna Test Your Heart, and who sings the last 2 songs and plays a few instruments on them.  The students wrote their own script and Amy, a rising singing star, sings on the very first number, the title track of the audio study aid.

It looks like I'm running out of time to get to my day job, but watch this blog post over the next few days.  I'll add more pictures, a few photo captions, lyrics and  links so you can sample the songs, add a little audio of the skits, and identify members of the cast.

STAY TUNED.  This is a Test, and it's still under construction.  Enjoy the photos below and, students, feel free to add comments and suggestions.

I like this blog entry! It is a really brilliant way to not only make class a little more fun, but also to merge the material with technology. The pictures are great. It would be cool to hear the songs, skits, etc., but I see that you already have plans to do so.

    hey Dr. BLT,

I am so excited to start our similar project in our research methods class. This looks like it is going to be so much fun. I am looking forward to learning in this new creative way. The most exciting part will be working in a studio.

Wow!! How interesting does Dr. BLT make our classes for us and it is great to have a teacher that has us actually learn from this sort of activities so we are not bored. I would have loved to hear their skit. I am a little anxious because I do not like to get up in front of people and talk let alone act. It will be fun.
