Orange Christmas: Reflecting on big freeze of '37 and '90

Ice and snow during the holidays can be romantic, but it can also be ravaging. Such is the case of the chilling frost of 1937 and the great frost of 1990.
Many are facing unspeakable hardship this Thanksgiving/Christmas season. When you listen to the music of the first wave of Bakersfield sound artists, you can tell that many found comfort and strength in their music that helped them survive the great depression.
In facing hard times, sometimes it's therapeutic and simply helpful in practical terms, to look back on the past, to other difficult times. In doing so, we learn how people survived and, in some cases, thrived. With such retrospection, we can learn how communities worked together for the good of all, with few resources at their disposal. We stand to learn how God provided for the needs of so many who called upon him. We learn to trust God through hard times by examining his faithfulness towards his people in the past.
The song, Orange Christmas, from the CD, Ice and Snow, was written about the great California freeze of 1990, the one that destroyed so many orange groves, and shattered the world of so many workers and farmers, the way the ice and snow destroyed so many orange crops back in 1937 (pictured here) was frozen in the vaults. It's a previously unreleased Dr BLTrack featuring LA guitarist, all-around legendary artist, and producer, Jason Peri, and it's remixed here, for your listening, critiquing, and downloading pleasure.
