Behind Buck's Bronze Statues: Johnny Cash's cover of Neil Diamond's Solitary Man

Welcome to Behind Buck's Bronze Statues, a Bakersfield Sound Underground series celebrating the country music legends that had the most profound influence on Buck Owens.
Buck did his part to memorialize his favorite country stars by having them created in the form of bronze statues that are now permanently on display in Buck Owens Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California. One of Buck's favorite star, and one of the country music mavericks he admired most was the Man in Black, Johnny Cash.
Today, we celebrate Johnny Cash with a song of Neil Diamond's he covered shortly before Cash passed away. It's a Neil Diamond classic that I also covered in my own style. If you've heard both Neil Diamond's original version and Johnny Cash's, let us know which one you like best in the comments section below. In the rare event that you prefer my cover of Solitary Man, don't be shy about letting me know that too.
