We Shot Buckshot: The Buck Owens ranch photo shoot with Buckshot

We Shot Buckshot

words and music by Dr BLT copyright 2008

We shot Buckshot
me and my partner in rhyme
we shot Buckshot
We shot 'em 27 times
we shot 'em on the Owens ranch
where music flowed like vintage wine

Hank Ray was shootin' with me
He got some good shots of his own
we sat and listened to the band play
in the house where Buck once stayed
we shot some horses and some dinos
now tell me, what else can we say?...

From the soon-to-be-released Dr BLTune, I Shot Buckshot

The song isn't finished yet.  I'd like to invite you, Hank Ray, to help me finish writing and recording the song.

Talk about getting trigger happy with the camera.  I actually did shoot Buckshot.  We shot Buckshot---Hank and me.  And it's a shooting expedition I will surely never forget.  We were actually within earshot of Buckshot.  We were actually part of a private, exclusive Buckshot jam session.

I couldn't believe it when Hank Ray told me he had been to Buck Owen's ranch, that he had walked in the very house Buck once lived in, and sat on the very chairs and sofas Buck once sat on.  Furthermore, I couldn't believe that he had actually gone on a guided tour of the ranch, hosted by none other than Buckshot, the quintessential AmeriKERNa, nu bako sound band that is on it's way to defining what it means to move the Bakersfield sound forward to whole new generations of fans.

I surely wasn't prepared for Hank to ask me to be a photographer in a second trek to the ranch.  I had to pinch myself when he asked me, and again, when I arrived that very week, at the ranch, met the band, including Buck's son, John Owens, took the very tour and shot Buckshot.

There's much more to be told about that one, blessed visit, but right now, I'm at a loss for words, so this shall be continued.
